Flora-Bama Ole River Grill

Overview

Flora-Bama Ole River Grill is a favorite spot for locals and visitors alike, located at 17400 Perdido Key Dr, Pensacola, FL 32507. Situated on the picturesque Ole River, this laid-back, waterside restaurant brings together great food, a relaxed atmosphere, and a view that you’ll remember long after the meal ends. Whether you're a seafood lover or just looking for a friendly place to hang out with family and friends, this spot is well worth checking out.

Upon walking in, the vibe immediately hits you-relaxed, casual, and welcoming. It's the kind of place where flip-flops and shorts are totally acceptable, and the salty air makes everything feel a little more laid back. The menu is packed with Southern classics, fresh seafood, and a few surprises. Whether you're craving something light like a shrimp salad or in the mood for something a little heartier like their famous grilled fish or juicy burgers, there’s something for everyone.

The standout feature of Flora-Bama Ole River Grill is its location right by the water. Many diners choose to sit outdoors, where they can enjoy the view of the river while sipping on a cold drink or snacking on oysters. There’s something truly special about eating fresh, local seafood while watching the boats cruise by, and it's an experience that makes the visit worthwhile. On a sunny afternoon, the outdoor seating area feels like paradise, offering a perfect setting for a relaxing meal.

One of the must-try dishes on the menu is the grilled shrimp platter. Plump, perfectly seasoned shrimp are served with a side of crispy fries and a refreshing salad. The shrimp are cooked to perfection and have just the right amount of char, making them irresistible. If you’re more of a seafood enthusiast, the fish tacos are another hit-light, fresh, and bursting with flavor. The fish is always local, so you can expect a unique experience depending on what’s in season.

For those who aren't in the mood for seafood, the burgers at Flora-Bama Ole River Grill are a worthy alternative. They’re juicy, perfectly cooked, and piled high with all the right toppings. The atmosphere encourages a relaxed approach to dining, and it’s easy to get lost in a casual conversation while enjoying a cold drink and a tasty burger.

In terms of drinks, the bar menu doesn't disappoint. From ice-cold beers to refreshing cocktails, there's no shortage of options. If you're feeling adventurous, try one of their signature cocktails, like the “Ole River Lemonade,” which is a refreshing blend of vodka, lemonade, and a splash of fresh fruit. It pairs perfectly with any of their menu items, but especially the seafood dishes.

The service is friendly and down-to-earth, which complements the restaurant’s overall vibe. Whether it’s your first visit or you’re a regular, the staff makes everyone feel like family. They’re always ready to recommend a dish if you're unsure what to order and will ensure that you’re taken care of throughout your meal.

The interior is just as inviting, with a nautical theme that complements the restaurant's location by the water. It’s not overly flashy, but the cozy atmosphere creates a perfect space for a meal with friends or a laid-back dinner with family. It’s one of those places that’s easy to spend a long time at without ever feeling rushed.

For dessert, don’t skip out on the key lime pie. The tangy, creamy filling with the buttery graham cracker crust is a perfect way to end your meal. It’s sweet but not overwhelming, making it a delightful finish to any dining experience.

It’s easy to see why Flora-Bama Ole River Grill is considered a staple in the Pensacola area. Its combination of delicious food, stunning views, and laid-back ambiance makes it the ideal place for a casual meal or an evening out with friends. Whether you're visiting the area for the first time or you’ve been here before, it’s definitely worth making a stop at this waterfront gem.

Brought my family here again this year bc the place is so great! Loved being outside on the water to enjoy a meal. The spinach artichoke bites and smoked tuna dip impressed! But our main entrees took the show. Plenty for leftovers. Our server was wonderful as well. Very attentive!

I thought this place was really cool! We did come late, an hour before closing, so I’m sure people were ready to go home. Server was a little late getting to us, but it’s understandable. She was very nice. Food was good! I really like the atmosphere there.

It’s a restaurant with a nice atmosphere and a good view directly on the pier. Good live music downstairs. We had the shrimp and grits. The food was good, but our cocktails were not the best. Not verry balanced. The service was unfortunately not very welcoming and friendly. All in all not a bad place at all.
